Our unique menu, which was designed with the help of qualified nutritionists, is all about nourishing growing bodies and nurturing curious minds.

By taking you through a typical week of our meticulously curated menu, we hope to provide you with a treasure trove of creative snack ideas that will undoubtedly delight your preschoolers while promoting healthy nutritional choices.

A Week of Delightful Snacks Begins

Monday: A Comforting Start

At LittleHill we kick off the week with a warm and comforting start by introducing our preschoolers to our delectable Vanilla Porridge. This creamy and flavourful dish combines the goodness of maize porridge with the richness of margarine and a dash of milk, creating a delightful fusion of flavours that will excite little taste buds.

For a mid-morning or afternoon snack, our Cheesy Baked Veggie Tots are always a hit. These bite-sized morsels are crafted from a medley of vegetables and cheddar cheese, baked to perfection, and served alongside a tangy tomato sauce and a refreshing side of yogurt. At home, you can also opt for mini pitas, filled with cheddar cheese and accompanied by crisp apple slices, striking a perfect balance between savoury and sweet.

Tuesday: Nutritious Variety

Breakfast: Start the day with a hearty and wholesome Oats Porridge, topped with a drizzle of honey, a pat of margarine, and sliced bananas for a burst of natural sweetness.

For a mid-morning treat, we usually have our preschoolers indulge in our moist and flavourful Carrot Muffins, packed with the goodness of carrots and a hint of warmth from a variety of spices.

Lunch: As lunchtime rolls around, our Marvelous Mac and Cheese delight even the pickiest of eaters. This classic dish is elevated with the addition of broccoli and cauliflower, seamlessly integrating nutritious vegetables into a beloved comfort food. Adding vegetables to favourites like pasta dishes, is a great way to introduce little ones to a variety of textures.

In the afternoon, our Snack Platter is always very popular! Featuring grated cheese on Provitas and a selection of fresh apple slices. It is a great idea to give your kid a variety of snacks on a plate, so that they get to “choose” their own combinations.

Wednesday: Creativity in the Kitchen

Breakfast: We begin the day with a delightful combination of Breakfast Cups filled with creamy vanilla yoghurt and a refreshing fruit salad, showcasing a variety of seasonal fruits. For a mid-morning boost, our banana bread, spread with a touch of margarine and served alongside sliced pears, always goes down well.

Lunch: Lunchtime brings forth a flavourful Chicken Curry, perfectly spiced to suit young palates and accompanied by fluffy rice, pea carrots, and corn. If your child prefers the classic favourites, then you could always opt for something like crispy fish fingers with roasted potatoes and a variety of roasted vegetables, ensuring a well-rounded and satisfying meal.

Afternoon Snack: One of our most popular afternoon snacks is our Pumpkin Squares, topped with a luscious cottage cheese frosting. It is always a good idea to bake vegetables into shapes that children associate with treats that they like.

Thursday: Flavours to Savour

Breakfast: At LittleHill we start the day with a refreshing Fruit Salad, featuring a vibrant mix of chopped seasonal fruits, paired with creamy vanilla yoghurt. For a mid-morning treat, our Sweet Cornbread, sliced and served with a pat of margarine, offers a delightful twist on a classic favourite.

Lunch: As lunchtime approaches, our Fish and Chips, featuring crispy crumbed hake fillets and golden potato wedges, served alongside buttery corn, is always a big crowd-pleaser.

Afternoon snack: In the afternoon, our Beetroot Squares, topped with a tangy cottage cheese frosting, provide a vibrant and nutritious snack option. Another example of hiding the things they need in the things they want!

At home, you can also consider a Cottage Cheese Sandwich, with whole-wheat bread, cucumber, and creamy cottage cheese, accompanied by apple slices.

Friday: Ending the Week on a Sweet Note

Breakfast: Fridays are always fun at LittleHill, as we kick off the final day of the week with our indulgent Banana Crepes, made with whole-wheat batter and topped with margarine, syrup, and fresh banana slices.

For a mid-morning snack, our Healthier Cheese Rollups, featuring whole-wheat bread filled with a blend of grated carrots and cheddar cheese, offer a nutritious and flavourful twist on a classic favourite.

Lunch: As lunchtime arrives, our classic Cottage Pie, featuring a hearty mince filling topped with creamy mashed potatoes, is sure to satisfy appetites. Our Chicken Strips, served alongside baked Mixed Vegetable Fritters, is also a Friday favourite!

To cap off the week, our Jelly and Custard Cups, served alongside baked potato bites, offer a delightful treat that combines the indulgence of a dessert with the wholesomeness of a nutritious snack.

Fostering a Love for Nutrition: A Lifelong Journey

At LittleHill Montessori, we believe that instilling healthy eating habits in children from an early age is not only crucial for their physical well-being but also lays the foundation for a lifelong appreciation of nutritious foods.

We recognise the importance of leading by example and fostering a positive relationship with food. By encouraging open conversations about the benefits of various ingredients and involving children in the decision-making process, we empower them to make informed choices and develop a lifelong commitment to healthy eating.
